HOT!!
It's hit 100 degrees here in Boise today! Ugh...I'm already ready for fall!
Although I did spend the weekend BBQing by the pool and jet skiing out on the lake...so I suppose that part of summer isn't so bad ;)
You do anything fun to beat the heat this weekend?!

Things that make me smile...
This kitchen is wonderful...I love the huge white island! And the pendant lights...plus that dark sofa! I'll move in tomorrow!
No, its still not done!
So way back in May I showed you guys the project my poor Father got suckered into while he was here for Mother's Day...well he finished his part that weekend! I, on the other hand, still haven't COMPLETELY finished mine! However, it is at a point now where it is finished enough that it actually looks decent and no one but me knows it isn't complete.
This picture below actually shows the one part of the wall (under the thermostat) that was the nemesis of this project! We could NOT find a stud anywhere along that piece of wood! There are seriously probably 15-20 nails in the space of those 2 feet! And still NO stud! My Dad was not happy!
I then painted the railing Dad put up...the end goal is to have the bottom have "board & batten" in the color that was already on the walls and trim. So in order to give it all a polished look, and leave it until I have time to complete the rest, I pained the railing the color of all my trim. Now if I could only get up the nerve (and find a block of time) I might get the vertical planks put up this summer! And because of the aforementioned stud issues I will definitely be using liquid nails to secure the rest!

Gray?!
Gray is taking over! It seems gray will become the taupe of the past decade. As trends change I seem to see gray more and more. In paint colors, furniture coverings, artwork, industrial fixtures…As a girl who's always loved Black & White I am more than ready for this shift!
I can't tell you why, but I have always been drawn to cooler colors…perhaps something about relaxing & calming but more so I think is the fact that warm colors just DO NOT appeal to me. Nothing against all the brown lovers out there, brown definitely has its place and is beautiful in its own right...but I "live" so much more comfortably in cooler climates. Maybe its my love of darkness & night time? Or my wariness of the sun? I know, I'm weird...I just so prefer being cool to being warm.
Either way, I am so excited to see how gray shapes the next trend in design…and love how great it looks with my fav, black! Now does someone want to come help me turn my living room into this?!

Graduation
Feels like I've had lots of graduations this year...but tomorrow will be the last...and the most important :) My little brother is graduating!! So I'm headed home today (for the 2nd time in a week! Ya, I'm crazy!) but very excited for the gathering of family at my parents house. parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and we can't forget baby Holly! :)
Should be a great time! Now if I can only survive the 450 miles...ick!
